A Hungarian legal team on retainer, without hiring in-house
A foreign-owned company in Hungary generates a steady trickle of legal questions that are each too small to instruct a firm about, and too consequential to guess at: a supplier contract with an unusual clause, an employee asking for something the handbook does not cover, a letter from an authority. So they get guessed at, and the guesses accumulate until one of them turns into a real problem.

Time beyond a retainer's hours is billed at the stated hourly rate for that option, so the cost is never a surprise

- Option 1, hourly: EUR 110 per hour (EUR 100 per hour for first-year package clients)
- Option 2, 10-hour monthly retainer: EUR 1,000 per month (EUR 100 per hour); time above 10 hours billed at EUR 110 per hour
- Option 3, 20-hour monthly retainer: EUR 1,900 per month (EUR 95 per hour); time above 20 hours billed at EUR 105 per hour
- Option 4, project-based fixed fees for well-defined matters, agreed case by case
Fees exclude VAT (27% where applicable); third-party costs are passed through at cost; valid from September 2026.
Questions we get asked
What happens if we do not use it one month?
Nothing bad. Quiet months are part of the arrangement: you are buying availability and a team that already knows your file, which is precisely what makes the busy months fast.
Is litigation included?
No. Court and arbitration work is quoted separately, because its scale is impossible to predict and it would be dishonest to imply otherwise. What the retainer does is make litigation less likely, and much cheaper when it happens, because the file is already understood.
We already have a lawyer at home. Why this too?
Because your lawyer at home cannot sign a Hungarian employment termination, appear before a Hungarian authority, or tell you what a Hungarian court will actually do. The two are not competing; we work with in-house and home-country counsel constantly.
Will I always deal with the same lawyer?
We assign the right lawyer as your main contact and coordinate the team around that person, so colleagues who know your file stay involved. We do not promise one fixed lawyer for the life of the retainer, because who is best placed can change with the matter and with availability, but continuity is exactly what the monthly arrangement is built for.
