Questions clients ask us
How do we check a Chinese supplier before contracting?
Official company registers and court records show the registered name, registered capital, licensed scope of business and legal representative, and whether court or enforcement proceedings are running against the company. The most common mistake is signing with a trading name rather than the registered Chinese name, and without the company's official chop. Both make enforcement harder later.
As a Hungarian company, should we set up a Chinese subsidiary or work with a distributor?
It depends on how much control the product and the brand need. A distributor gets you to market faster, but the trademark and the customer data have to be secured in your own name before the first shipment leaves. A subsidiary is slower and more costly to set up, but the contract chain, the pricing and the data stay inside the group.
What is the MKIK China Desk?
The "MKIK China Desk – Operated by Cathay Partners" runs under a cooperation agreement with the Hungarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In practice it is an entry point for companies heading to China from Hungary and for Chinese investors coming to Hungary: the question reaches the same team that is present in both Budapest and Shanghai.
